Public Utility Providers (PUPS)
- Q How are PUPs progressing along the project alignment?
- A One of the challenges for the project has been the extensive public utilities work throughout north Brisbane. As at September 2010, 70% of the required PUPs work for the projects was complete.
- Q How are PUPs managed across the projects?
- A Thiess John Holland (TJH), as the construction contractor for the Airport Link and Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron), has responsibility to ensure all sub-contractors comply with the requirements of the Coordinator-General’s conditions and the Project Deed. These requirements apply to PUPs works, particularly in relation to reinstatement of local roads and maintaining access to local properties. While TJH have ultimate responsibility for project activities, some providers (eg. Energex, Telstra) operate essential services under independent federal and state legislation. In these cases, TJH have limited ability to control the works, particularly with regard to scheduling. TJH have an obligation to provide notification of upcoming PUPs works to all local residents and businesses that will be directly impacted.
