A mainly underground toll road planned between Brisbane's northern suburbs, the airport and the inner city.

Connecting the Inner Northern Busway to Bracken Ridge via Windsor, Lutwyche, Kedron, Chermside and Aspley.

A significant upgrade of the existing airport roundabout, including a new flyover, will deliver a long-term solution for reducing traffic congestion.


 

Change Process

Bids for Airport Link and the Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron) are expected to include some changes to the project reference designs.

Airport Link

If the changes are more than minor, a Request for Project Change will be submitted to the Coordinator-General for assessment under the State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971.

That request would describe the proposed changes and its effects on the project, the reasons for the changes, and include enough information about the impacts of the changes to allow the Coordinator-General to determine the extent to which further public consultation on the changes was required.

The Coordinator-General may seek information and comments, including inviting public submissions on the proposed changes and its effects on the project, from the proponent, advisory agencies and other entities or individuals.

The Coordinator-General is obliged to evaluate the nature of the proposed change and its effect on the project; the environmental effects of the proposed change and all properly made submissions.

The Coordinator-General then prepares a report called the Coordinator-General’s Change Report.  This report may state conditions or make recommendations including amending any conditions or recommendations set down in the original Coordinator-General’s Airport Link Environmental Impact Statement Evaluation Report.

The Coordinator-General will ensure any changes to Airport Link and any new conditions set on the project are consistent with any changes to the Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron) project.

Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron)

CNI will advise the community if there are any significant changes to the Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron) project reference design.

If required, consultation on the preferred bidder’s design for Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron) will be held at the same time as the Airport Link change process.

A joint approach will provide the community with the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the transport infrastructure solutions planned for Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
